Lisa is a dedicated public health professional with over 25 years of experience in injury and violence prevention and community health education. She brings a wealth of expertise to her role as Deputy Director at the University of Iowa Injury Prevention Research Center (UI IPRC), where she coordinates dissemination activities, fosters organizational partnerships, and facilitates community collaborations.
Lisa’s career began at the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) as the state’s first child passenger safety program manager. She later served as the Manager of Community Outreach at Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, where she played a pivotal role in advancing traffic safety programs and advocating for the enhancement of Iowa’s Child Passenger Safety and Graduated Driver’s Licensing laws.
At UI IPRC, Lisa also serves as the site coordinator for multiple state and national initiatives, including the Iowa Violent Death Reporting System (IAVDRS), the Overdose Data to Action-States grant, and the Core State Injury Program (Core SIPP) grant. Additionally, she contributes as an interventionist for teen driving studies. Lisa actively contributes to the field through her service on the University of Iowa Public Health Research Council and her leadership as the current President of the Safe States Alliance.
