Community Advisors

The UI IPRC Community Advisory Committee provides input into UI IPRC outreach activities, identifies potential areas and partnerships for the development and dissemination of policy briefs, and identifies opportunities for implementation of injury and violence programs and translation activities.

Members understand and appreciate the importance of injury prevention and they represent executive-level roles in Iowa and our region. They are also long-standing collaborators with the UI IPRC. Therefore, they are particularly helpful in determining how to approach challenging issues and in “opening doors” to key stakeholders. Also, the respect they receive from their peers strengthens our Center’s standing as an essential partner in injury and violence prevention.

Chair: John Lundell, Mayor, City of Coralville, IA. Former UI IPRC Deputy Director

Pam Hoogerwerf, Coordinator, Community Outreach & Injury Prevention, UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital

Brandi Janssen, Director, Iowa Center for Agricultural Health

David Jacoby, State Representative, House District 74, Iowa General Assembly

Linda Kalin, Executive Director, Iowa Poison Control Center

Colleen Kapsimalis, Program Manager, Violence and Injury Prevention — Mental Health Branch, Colorado Department of Health & Environment

Mark Lowe, Director, Motor Vehicle Division at the Iowa Department of Transportation
