Cara has a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Iowa and a Masters of Public Health from the University of North Texas Health Science Center. Her main research interest is transportation safety, with a focus on vulnerable and high-risk road users, including bicyclists, pedestrians, motorcyclists, and older and younger drivers. Her work includes studies of adult and child bicyclist risk exposure by equipping bicyclists with GPS video cameras, examination of justice data on charges and convictions of drivers who have hit bicyclists or pedestrians, and using virtual environments to study driver behavior.
